The Open TransPort product family is a set of communication gateways thatprovide inter- operability between systems. Applications may be writtento access remote applications services via industry-standardcommunication between TUXEDO applications or other remote- hostenvironments. Comprised of two product lines, one running over TCP/IP andthe other via the OSI-TP protocol, both lines share certain importantattributes: (1) user transparency, (2) a native, familiar look and feelto administrators or their respective TP environments, and (3) TPmonitor-to-TP monitor interoperability via existing APIs. Designed todeliver high-performance heterogeneous interoperability between TUXEDOand proprietary TP environments (IMS, MVS, CICs), the OpenTransportproduct line also provides standardized heterogeneous interoperabilitybetween TUXEDO and other TP environments, whether UNIX or non-UNIX,mainframe or non- mainframe. Available on the same platforms and thesame operating systems as TUXEDO, the Open TransPort family is X/Openconformant, and supports both distributed transactions and the ISO'sOSI/TP protocol for accessing these remote environments.
